Cracks along the front edge of a black vinyl seat
Why one chair goes first

Bought as a set, worn like strangers

Six styling chairs arrive on the same truck and then live very different lives. The station nearest the door takes every walk-in, the busiest stylist sits a client in the same seat all day, and one chair gets the afternoon sun through the front window. So one seat cracks along its front edge, where capes are dragged across it, well before the rest. That makes the real question about the five chairs that have not failed yet. If the vinyl still bends cleanly, a repair is cheaper; this page is for the seat that is past it.

What decides the match

Dye lot, not color name

Order the same vinyl by the same name twice and you can still receive two colors. Rolls made in different runs are different dye lots, and the gap is small enough to pass in a sample book yet plain on a salon floor. A salon is the hardest room to hide it in: station lights are chosen to show hair color truly, and a mirror on each side doubles every panel. So salon chair reupholstery should be quoted by the roll, not by the name: the row is cut from one roll and the lot number is recorded for later.

Three ways to handle it

One chair, the row, or one chair with the lot on file

We tell you which we would choose for your floor before you decide.

One chair, closest match

Lowest cost today. We tell you where the difference will show: up close at the mirror, not from the door.

The whole row

Lowest cost per chair, and the only way to be sure every station matches.

One now, lot recorded

Recover the failed chair and keep its lot number on file, so later chairs can be ordered from the same lot while the supplier still has it.

Choosing the cover

Sampled in your light

Salon chair reupholstery CT owners see samples against their own chairs under their own station lights, because a color that matches by a window can drift under the mirror lamps. The grade comes first: it has to survive peroxide, developer and a daily alcohol wipe. Back patterns are on salon furniture reupholstery.

How it works

  1. Photo and count

The worst chair, and how many in the row.

  2. Samples

Held against your chairs, in your light.

  3. One roll

The row cut from a single lot.

  4. Recovered

Seat, back and arms, foam rebuilt.

What leaves the chair

Three pads, one frame

A styling chair is a seat pad, a backrest and two arm pads fixed to a frame. The pads are recovered; the frame and base you chose for the room are kept.

Black seat pads removed and laid on a work table
Pads offSeat and back taken off their plates
A flattened old foam block beside a new one
Foam renewedCrushed foam replaced at the old height
New vinyl being stapled to a seat pan
Cover fittedPulled from the center, stapled under the pan
When not to recover

Three jobs this page is not

Recovering a chair that does not need it is money spent in the wrong place.

Color only

Dye has stained the panel but the vinyl still flexes. That is a recolor, and it costs less.

One panel

A single split or a loose side panel can be replaced alone. You should not be quoted a whole chair for it.

Not upholstery

A chrome scratch or a base problem is not upholstery work, and we will say so rather than recover around it.

Questions

Salon Chair FAQ

What salon owners ask before booking salon chair reupholstery CT wide.

Can you match one new chair to five older ones?

Close, not exact. The original lot is gone and the old chairs have faded. We sample in your light and show you where the difference will be.

Why do two rolls of the same vinyl not match?

Each production run is a separate dye lot. The difference is small but shows on a floor of matching chairs.

Do you replace the foam?

Where it has flattened or crushed, yes, cut back to the original crown so the seat sits where stylists expect.

What does it cost compared with new chairs?

Usually far less, because the frame and base are kept. We give a per-chair and a per-row price before you book.

How do I get a price for salon chair reupholstery CT wide?

Text or email a photo of the worst chair and the number in the row to (347) 310-7483 or office@leatherrestorepro.com, or use the free estimate form.
