Leather Armrest
Repair CT

The arm is where a leather sofa shows its age first. We repair faded color, scratches, tears, loose seams and flattened padding on a single arm or both, then blend the work into the whole piece. A few photos are all it takes to book the leather armrest repair CT homes need.

Our assessment

Three layers in every arm

We inspect all three. Refinishing the top of an arm while its seam is loose or its padding has collapsed will not hold up.

Sofa arm layer, finish
1. Finish
Color loss, cracking, scratches and stains on the top layer.
Sofa arm layer, stitching
2. Stitching
Seams and piping that give the arm its outline.
Sofa arm layer, cushioning
3. Cushioning
Foam and wrap beneath the hide that keep it soft.

Whatever shape your arms are

A piped roll and a buttoned Chesterfield arm are built very differently, so we follow how yours was made.

Care tips

Help the arms last longer

A few easy habits slow arm wear down a great deal.

Wipe often

Run a damp cloth over the arms every two weeks or so to remove skin oil before it sinks in.

Condition twice a year

The arms dry out sooner than the seats do, so give them conditioner twice a year.

Sit on the seat

Perching on an arm flattens its padding and pulls at the seams.

Offer cats a post

Put a scratching post beside the sofa and the front of the arm is spared.

Why do the arms wear out before the rest of my sofa?

They get hands, elbows, skin oil and sometimes a cat daily, and people perch on them. The finish there wears through years ahead of the seat cushions.

Is it possible to repair only one arm?

Yes. The leather armrest repair CT customers ask us for is usually one arm or the pair, and we blend the new color into the rest of the sofa so the repaired area does not show.

The leather on the arm has worn right through. Now what?

When the hide itself is gone, we swap that arm panel for new leather and match its color. Our leather panel replacement page explains more.

Can you restore padding on a flat arm?

Yes. We open a seam on the arm, put in new foam or wrap, and close it up so the arm gets its shape and softness back.

How do I find out the cost?

Text or email a close photo of the arm, one of the whole sofa and a note on what bothers you to (347) 310-7483 or office@leatherrestorepro.com.
