Leather Stain
Removal CT

We take wine, grease, ink, makeup, water rings and jeans dye out of the leather instead of painting over them. A few photos are all it takes to book the leather stain removal CT homes need.

Know the stain

Each stain has its own treatment

No one product cleans every mark. Good leather stain removal CT owners can rely on begins with naming the stain, since ink, oil and wine all respond to different methods.

Leather marked by coffee, wine
Coffee, wine
Tannins soak quickly into light leather. A pH-balanced cleaner lifts them, and any leftover shadow is color-corrected.
Leather marked by cooking grease
Cooking grease
Oil creeps beneath the finish and turns it dark. We pull it out with a degreaser and an absorbent poultice.
Leather marked by pen marks
Pen marks
Early on, ink stays in the topcoat. We remove it with a purpose-made ink lifter and never use alcohol.
Leather marked by lipstick, makeup
Lipstick, makeup
Waxy color pressed into the grain. We soften it, lift it and bring the area back into balance.
Leather marked by water marks
Water marks
Minerals dry at the edge and leave a tide line. We even out the whole panel rather than only the ring.
Leather marked by skin oil
Skin oil
Shiny, darkened areas on arms and headrests. We clean deep and degrease over several passes.
Leather marked by jeans dye
Jeans dye
Blue rubbed off new denim onto light leather. Caught early it lifts; once set, color correction is needed.
Leather marked by mystery stains
Mystery stains
Blotchy old marks nobody can explain. We test on a hidden area before applying anything.

Timing

How a spill changes over time

The longer a stain stays, the deeper it goes and the more it oxidizes. A new spill often needs nothing more than cleaning, while an older one also needs correction.

A leather stain within the hour
Within the hour
The spill is still on top of the finish. Blot it without rubbing and most of it lifts.
A leather stain a few days on

It has worked into the grain, but the correct cleaner still deals with it well.
A leather stain months on

Set and oxidized. Cleaning makes it lighter, and color correction completes it.
The process

We remove it, not hide it

We only reach for color where cleaning falls short. Paint over a stain and it disappears for a while, then shows as a stiff patch that does not match.

Right after a spill

Your first few minutes

The first few minutes set how simple the leather stain removal CT job turns out to be.

Blot it

Press a clean, dry white cloth on the spill, lift, turn it and repeat.

Air dry only

Leave it at room temperature with no heat, then text us a picture.

No rubbing

Scrubbing spreads the mark and drives it further into the grain.

Skip the wipes

Baby wipes, vinegar and alcohol take the finish off and leave a light ring.

Is it too late to get an old stain out of leather?

Usually not. Most come out or become very hard to spot, often with a little color correction after cleaning. Every leather stain removal CT job we take begins with a test on a hidden area.

What is the first thing to do after a spill?

Blot it with a clean, dry cloth, then leave the leather to dry by itself. Skip rubbing, skip baby wipes, vinegar and alcohol, and keep the hair dryer away.

Can I use household cleaners on leather?

Mostly no. Dish soap, multi-surface sprays and cleaning wipes remove the finish and may leave a light patch larger than the original stain.

Do stains come out of aniline leather?

They do, with extra care. Aniline leather has no protective topcoat, so a stain travels deeper. Results are usually very good, now and then with a faint soft halo that blends in.

How do I find out what it costs?

Send a close-up of the stain, a photo of the full piece and your best guess at the cause, by text or email to (347) 310-7483 or office@leatherrestorepro.com. You will have a price before anything is scheduled.
