Commercial Wood
Furniture Repair CT

Chipped edges, water rings, scuffed rails and lifting laminate. Commercial wood furniture repair CT businesses need shows up at two heights in a room, and hardly anywhere else.

Two heights, and almost nothing between them

In almost any office, restaurant or clinic, from New Haven to Glastonbury, wood damage sits at two levels. One is the tabletop, where people set down drinks, keys, laptops and hot dishes. The other is floor level, where chair rails, desk bases and table feet get kicked, hit by vacuums and bumped by carts. The middle of a table leg is nearly always fine. That is why a quick look around the room, with a phone camera at both levels, is enough to scope most jobs, and why a quote that prices “the furniture” instead of those two zones is really just a guess with a number attached.

Fill and colorChips and dents filled flush, then colored and grained to blend.
Do the edges togetherThe floor-level zone handled in one go, not piece by piece.
Laminate on its own termsFilled, tinted and grain-printed, since sanding only makes it worse.

What we repair

Tops, frames, rails and desks

Most commercial wood furniture repair CT jobs include several of these together, and that is the point: once a piece is already coming to the workshop for upholstery, the wood adds very little to the cost.

Wood gets repaired. Laminate gets rebuilt

From a couple of feet away they look alike, but the work is completely different. Mixing them up is the most common reason a wood repair ends up looking obviously wrong in a commercial space.

Solid wood

  • A small brush touching up a wood frame
Color in layersStain and tint built up gradually, so the grain still shows through.
  • A close view of a wood touch-up
Feathered outThe repair blended beyond its edge instead of stopping hard at it.

Laminate and veneer

  • A damaged reception desk edge
Fill, never sandSanding cuts through the printed layer in seconds, and that cannot be reversed.
  • The same desk edge after repair
Grain redrawnThe wood pattern is painted back by hand over the filler.
How it works

Check both heights, then repair

  1. Look at tabletop level

Rings, burns, chips and gouges on every flat surface, noted down.

  2. Look at floor level

Rails, bases and feet — normally the longer of the two lists.

  3. Separate wood from laminate

Each gets its own method and its own price.

  4. Repair it in one batch

Everything together in the workshop, because handling is a large part of the cost.

A repair, or the whole surface

Local damage belongs on this page. When an entire tabletop has turned cloudy, ringed or worn through, that is furniture refinishing, which also covers the solvent test that shows whether a finish can take a new coat or must be stripped. For wood on home furniture, see wood furniture repair.

Can you match the finish we already have?

Yes. The color is built up in layers against the actual piece instead of picked from a chart, and the repair is feathered out so no edge shows.

Can laminate be repaired?

Yes, just not by sanding. It is filled and tinted, then the grain is redrawn by hand over the fill. Sanding breaks through the printed layer right away.

Can you do the wood along with upholstery?

That is the usual approach, and it is why adding wood costs little. Handling the piece is a large share of the cost of any job.

Our whole conference tabletop is cloudy. Is that a repair?

No, that is a whole-surface finish job. The method and price are different, and we will tell you which one you need.

Do all the pieces have to leave at once?

No. They can come to the workshop in batches on dates that suit you, so the room is never emptied.

Take photos at both heights

One set looking down at the tops and one from close to the floor. For most rooms, that covers the whole scope.
