Damage we repair

The six problems we see most

Nearly every wood furniture repair CT request we get is one of these, and almost none of them call for stripping the whole piece.

One job

Wood parts of leather furniture

A leather sofa or chair still has wood in it: legs, plinths, bare arms and frames. We repair both the wood and the leather on one job, so you hire one shop instead of two.

Know the surface

Solid wood, veneer or paint

Each surface needs its own method, so every wood furniture repair CT job begins by identifying which one your piece has.

Furniture with a solid wood surface
Solid wood
The most forgiving surface: we fill it, sand just the damaged spot and refinish.
Furniture with a veneer surface
Veneer
Only a thin face layer, so we fill chips and paint the grain in. We never sand through it.
Furniture with a painted wood surface
Painted wood
We fill each chip, prime it and paint it to match the color already there.
Our process

How a repair is made to disappear

01 Clean

We remove wax and dirt so the filler can grip.

02 Fill

Wood filler or hard wax restores the lost shape.

03 Color

We hand-paint color and grain until they match.

04 Seal

A matching-sheen topcoat hides the repair.

Connecticut seasons

What wears wood furniture out in Connecticut

The change from season to season strains finishes and glued joints.

Dry winters

Heating dries the wood out, and chair joints work loose.

Humid summers

Wood takes on moisture, so finishes crack and drawers stick.

Moving day

Legs and corners get hit in doorways and on stairs.

Busy kitchens

Dining chairs and tables take the most everyday use.

Which wood problems do you repair?

Chips, scratches, dents and gouges, plus split legs, worn edges and joints that have come loose. Most wood furniture repair CT customers ask us about falls into one of those groups.

Will the fix blend with the existing finish?

Each repair is filled, colored and grain-painted by hand, and the sheen is matched last so it disappears at a normal viewing distance.

Do you repair the wood on leather sofas and chairs?

Yes, as part of the same job. Legs, bare wood arms and frames on leather furniture are among the wood repairs we handle most.

Can you fix a chair that wobbles?

Yes. We open the loose joint, clean out the old glue, then reglue and clamp it until the chair is solid.

Should I repair it or refinish it?

If the finish is in good shape and the damage is in one spot, a repair is enough. If the finish is cloudy or worn across the whole piece, a full refinish will look better. Photos usually tell us which.

How do I get a quote?

Send one photo of the damage and one of the whole piece to (347) 310-7483 or office@leatherrestorepro.com, and tell us the wood or finish if you know it.

Next step
